PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jack Daniels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anderson Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Daniels!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Anderson Harris!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, George Francis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Daniels cracks the inside of Harris's front leg.
Harris misses with a takedown attempt
and Daniels counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Daniels gets the takedown into side control.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Daniels wants to stand but Harris has his arm trapped.
Harris tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Daniels wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Daniels remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Harris manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
It looks like Daniels is going to stand back up.
Daniels has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Harris works to full guard.

Harris looking for a guillotine here but Daniels defends easily.
Harris wants to sweep but no luck.
Daniels has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Harris is proving hard to escape from.
Daniels wants to stand and escape but instead Harris has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Daniels keeping moving, preventing Harris from controlling successfully.

Harris got a little sloppy there for a moment and Daniels has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Harris has managed to get both his arms back between Daniels's legs - danger averted.
Harris slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Daniels wants to sweep here but Harris controlling him for the moment.

Daniels is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Harris is aware though and is defending well.

Harris wants to control from the top but Daniels keeps moving.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Anderson Harris hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Daniels fails to land with a series of punches.
Daniels throws a leg kick that is checked

and Harris counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Harris.

Daniels wants to stand up but Harris is controlling him.
Harris wants to control from the top but Daniels keeps moving.
Harris postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Daniels doesn't manage to clinch there - Harris circles away.
Daniels lands with a slapping head kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Anderson Harris will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!


Daniels throws a low kick but it's checked well by Harris.
Daniels misses with a wild combination.
Harris dodges the punch combination from Daniels.
Harris fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Daniels connects with a leg kick. Harris looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Daniels darts in trying to clinch

and Harris counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Daniels is refusing to be controlled, as Harris sits in half guard.

Daniels pushes Harris off and gets back to his feet.
Daniels fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Harris fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Daniels tries to clinch there but Harris circles away.
Daniels throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Daniels looks to land a left hand but Harris moved out of range nicely.
Daniels tries to score a power double leg takedown but Harris sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Daniels somewhat.

Harris checks the leg kick.
Nice takedown defense from Harris. No joy for Daniels on that attempt.
Jack Daniels is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Harris avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Daniels fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Harris has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Harris shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Daniels as he avoids it easily.
Jack Daniels has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anderson Harris.
Harris circles away from the clinch attempt.

Daniels tries to clinch there but Harris circles away.
Harris walks into a jab.
Daniels throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Daniels throws a leg kick that misses.
Daniels scoring well with a low kick there.

Daniels looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Harris regains full guard. Nicely done.
Harris looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Daniels puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Harris on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Daniels wants to stand up but Harris has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Daniels is looking for a kimura here.
Daniels wants to take a breather but Harris is having none of it.
Daniels seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Daniels throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Harris is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Daniels scores with a couple of nice shots.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Daniels thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Harris's head.
Harris is trying to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Daniels dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Daniels thows a body shot but no joy.
Daniels scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Harris doesn't seem bothered though.
Harris shoots in for a double leg but Daniels sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Harris has a takedown stuffed.

Harris scores a takedown into full mount!
Daniels is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Harris looking to control and managing it successfully.
Daniels tries to lock up and control but Harris gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Daniels tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Daniels is working hard here to advance position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Daniels regains half guard.
Anderson Harris has got the better of the ground game so far.
Harris content to control rather than advance.

Harris is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Daniels doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Harris.
Harris thows a huge punch but Daniels dodges it nicely.

Daniels slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Harris's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Daniels looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Harris passes into half guard.

Daniels is looking to escape.
Harris looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Daniels with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Daniels wants to get back to his feet.
Harris looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Harris controlling the pace.

Anderson Harris comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Harris has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Anderson Harris really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that CLOSING •‡• LION Clothing •‡• [LAST STOCK in 1DAY logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
