The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matthews stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Matthews wants it to stay on the feet.

Matthews lands a really nice looking cross but Malfacine seems unphased.
Malfacine tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Matthews paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Bruno Malfacine seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Matthews misses with an uppercut. Malfacine saw that one coming.
Malfacine takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Matthews gets in close and tags Malfacine with a short punch that almost sends Malfacine to the mat! Oh Malfacine is in big trouble! He turns his back on Matthews, trying to create some distance but Matthews rushes him, striking wildly and Malfacine goes down! The referee tackles Matthews into the cage to end the fight! Matthews is one violent man!

Michael Matthews tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
