Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ken Bates!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bobby shoots for a takedown but Bates saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Bobby shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Bates defends it nicely.

and Bates connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ricky Bobby. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Bobby shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Bates is trying to defend but Bobby finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Bobby is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Bobby decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Bates takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Bobby moves away from the strike by Bates.
Bates wants to clinch but Bobby slips to the side
and Bobby counters with a three punch combo that has Bates backing up. Bates nods at Bobby to acknowledge the strikes.
Bobby shoots in for a takedown but Bates shows good takedown defense.
Bobby will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Bobby dives in and grabs Bates's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bates pushes down on Bobby's head and hops out.
Bates stuffs the takedown attempt from Bobby. Bobby gets slowly back to his feet.

Bates tries to keep at a distance but Bobby has taken the fight into the clinch.

Bates has Bobby pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Bobby manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Bates is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Bates is fighting to break Bobby's control of his arms but Bobby is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Bobby wants to stand but Bates is controlling the position.

Bobby working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bates doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bates manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Bates is sitting in close to Bobby's body. Bobby has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Bates is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Bates is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Bobby.

A very excited looking Ricky Bobby rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
