PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gary Palmer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Wolf (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Palmer might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Mack The Knife. Wolf has chosen Hungry Like the Wolf - Duran Duran as his entrance music. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gary Palmer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Adam Wolf!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Elvis Blanc and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Palmer swinging wilding here.
Wolf shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Palmer as he jumps to the side.

Wolf shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Wolf works a leg free and moves into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wolf wants to free his trapped foot but Palmer is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Palmer wants to control but Wolf is keeping busy.
Wolf is looking to take a break and control but Palmer is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Palmer is trying to stand.
Wolf controlling the action here.
Palmer pushes Wolf off looking to stand but Wolf dives back in and keeps control.
Wolf missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Palmer trying to control but Wolf postures up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Wolf shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Palmer as he jumps to the side.

Wolf closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Palmer is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Wolf tries for a kimura but Palmer is defending well.
Wolf wants to control but Palmer is keeping him busy.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Palmer is looking for a sweep.
Palmer manages to work his way to half guard, despite Wolf's best efforts.
Wolf wants to lay and pray for a moment but Palmer keeps working.
Wolf stops Palmer from getting back to his feet.
Palmer won't allow Wolf to pass to mount.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
A jab-cross combination lands for Palmer and sends Wolf crashing to the mat! Palmer follows him down to the mat - Wolf regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!


It looks like Adam Wolf has been cut.
Wolf looks gassed!
Palmer wants to pass to mount but Wolf is defending the position.

Palmer decides to stand and escape the position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Wolf closes the distance and clinches.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Palmer lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Wolf can't get the takedown.
Gary Palmer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Adam Wolf.

Palmer manages to break the clinch.

Palmer instigates a clinch.

Wolf turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Palmer tries to improve position but can't.
Palmer is working hard here to advance position.
Palmer tries to strike but it doesn't land.
Palmer is pushing Wolf's head away, looking to escape. Wolf manages to hold on to the position though.

Wolf is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Palmer is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Palmer throws Wolf to one side and escapes!

Horrible takedown by Wolf or perhaps it was just good defense by Palmer which made him look bad.
Palmer shoots in looking for a takedown. Wolf tries to sprawl out of it but Palmer keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Wolf manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Wolf closes the distance and clinches.
Wolf jumps guard but Palmer stands there with Wolf around his waist. Wolf gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Palmer is looking to break free of the clinch but Wolf has double underhooks.
Palmer goes for a takedown attempt but Wolf pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Wolf shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Wolf was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Wolf is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Palmer looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Palmer gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Wolf trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Wolf stands and throws Palmer's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Wolf wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Palmer, who protects the arm well.
Wolf advances nicely into full mount.
Wolf working the ground and pound effectively.

Wolf looking to secure an arm triangle but Palmer defends it well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Wolf scoring with strikes but Palmer is staying in there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Wolf fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Palmer sprawls well initially but Wolf persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Palmer regains full guard. Nicely done.
Wolf must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Palmer throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Palmer wants to stand and escape but Wolf is having none of it.

Wolf seems to be working for a kimura but Palmer defends the submission attempt.

Palmer is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Wolf pulls his head out easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Wolf is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Palmer doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Wolf.

Wolf decides to return to a standing position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Palmer jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Gary Palmer is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Wolf closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Wolf lands in his opponent's guard.

Wolf wants to control from the top but Palmer keeps moving.

Wolf decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Gary Palmer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Palmer stuffs the takedown.

Palmer clinches but Wolf breaks the clinch

and Wolf counters with a single leg into guard. Palmer didn't expect that.
Palmer controls Wolf momentarily but Wolf frees himself.

Palmer bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Wolf's guard.
Palmer trying to control the position from guard on top but Wolf is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Palmer passes Wolf's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Wolf can do anything to dispel that myth.
Wolf wants to control but Palmer is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Adam Wolf has got the better of the ground game so far.
Wolf is not content to let Palmer control the position.
Wolf wants to improve his position but Palmer is controlling well.

Palmer stands up and beckons Wolf to join him on the feet.
A solid leg kick lands there for Palmer.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Palmer is trying to control Wolf's posture but Wolf avoids it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Wolf has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Adam Wolf showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Palmer fails in his attempt to clinch.

Wolf shoots in and bounces Palmer off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Wolf missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Wolf forces his way into half guard.
Palmer is not content to let Wolf control the position.
Palmer is trying to stand.
Wolf seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Palmer does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Wolf is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Palmer is looking to control Wolf's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Palmer avoid being mounted?

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Palmer scoring well with a low kick there.
Palmer has his takedown stuffed

and Wolf counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Palmer!
Wolf trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Palmer is wriggling around trying to escape.
Palmer takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Wolf is trying to control the action in half guard but Palmer is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Palmer moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Wolf drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Palmer manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Wolf has Palmer in his guard.

Wolf escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Palmer gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Wolf manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Palmer squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

Wolf looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Wolf avoids the attempt from Palmer to control.

Wolf gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Wolf checks a leg kick.
Palmer misses with a wild combination.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Wolf is working for takedown but Palmer is calmly controlling the position for now.

Palmer escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Wolf closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Wolf lands in his opponent's guard.
Gary Palmer has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Wolf wants to pass the guard but Palmer is keeping the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Adam Wolf comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Wolf winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
