Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sam Sorrows (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Knockout King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sam Sorrows!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 22 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Knockout King!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Tiny Johnson and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
King throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
King is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
A combination from King does no damage.
King misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
King misses with a few strikes there.
King throws a left and a right that both miss

and Sorrows decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in King's guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Sorrows wants to control from the top but King keeps moving.
Sorrows slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Sorrows pushing down on King's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Sorrows is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Sorrows stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Sorrows clinches up with King and pushes him back against the cage.
King working hard to break the clinch.

Sorrows throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Sorrows gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Sorrows wants to pass the guard but King is defending well.
Sorrows could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
King pushes Sorrows off looking to stand but Sorrows dives back in and keeps control.

Sorrows seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
King won't allow Sorrows to pass to mount.

King is in trouble now - Sorrows has advanced to mount!

Sorrows has control of King's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and King regains control of the situation pretty easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
King squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

Sorrows can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as King is looking to escape.
King tries to buck Sorrows off but he can't manage it.
Sorrows unloads with some shots from mount but King bucks and avoids them well.

Sorrows is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, King has managed to escape the submission attempt.
King is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
King is trying to stand but he's just given Sorrows his back.

Sorrows scores with punches and elbows.
Sorrows lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.

Sorrows patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
King has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.

Sorrows looking to break King's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. King remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Sorrows will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
King really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sorrows. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Sorrows controlling the positon.
Sorrows tries to get the hooks in deep but King pushed the leg off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sam Sorrows dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

King rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sorrows moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
King throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Sorrows counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Sorrows is working for a kimura but King is defending it quite comfortably.
King is looking to escape.
King is looking to get back to is feet but Sorrows passes into side control.

Sorrows stands up and beckons King to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Nice combo by King! Oh, that's hurt him - Sorrows falls to the canvas and King follows him into side control.


It looks like Sam Sorrows has been cut.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

King wants to stand but Sorrows has his arm trapped.
Sorrows wants to control but King postures up.

King stands up.
Knockout King is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
King throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sorrows.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Sorrows thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Sorrows is working for a kimura but King is defending it quite comfortably.

Sorrows feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
King wants to stand up but Sorrows is controlling him.

Sorrows is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Sorrows stands up from King's guard - Sorrows perhaps looking for a knockout.
Sam Sorrows is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Sorrows has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

A close second round but Knockout King will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Sorrows shoots in looking for a takedown but King manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sorrows's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
No joy there for King, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

King looks to land a combination. Sorrows sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

King falls off balance throwing a combination

and Sorrows counters with a shoot takedown. King fights it but they end up in guard.

Sorrows stops King from standing up.
Sorrows not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Sorrows trying to control the position from guard on top but King is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Sorrows drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sorrows jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Sorrows is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

We're going to have a standup here because Sam Sorrows wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
King avoids the head kick by Sorrows.

King tries to sprawl but Sorrows drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Sorrows is trying to control the action in half guard but King is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

King makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Knockout King seems to be getting the better of the standup.
King lands with a nice combination. Sorrows backs away looking to recover.

Sorrows moves into the clinch successfully.
King tries to circle away but Sorrows has him pinned against the cage.
King wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Sorrows breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
King misses with the combination.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
King swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Sorrows counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for King!
Sorrows looking to control but King is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
King is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Sam Sorrows overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Sorrows looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
King wants to try and get back to his feet.

King tries to bum rush Sorrows with a series of wild strikes but Sorrows uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Sorrows rushes King and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Sorrows has King pressed against the cage, preventing King from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

King wants to break free but Sorrows has control.
King is trying to break free.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Sam Sorrows.
I think Sorrows has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
