With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Daniel Dawson!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Winston Howard and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Philips lands a nice leg kick that just misses Dawson's sensitive parts.
Dawson shoots in but no luck this time.
Dawson throws a series of punches but Philips moves out of range.
Dawson fails to land with a series of punches.
Dawson fails to land the takedown.
No luck for Dawson with that takedown attempt.
Paul Philips has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daniel Dawson.
Dawson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Philips swivels and escapes.

Philips tries to clinch up but Dawson circles away and keeps his distance.

Philips displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Dawson.

Philips creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Dawson's defenses.
Dawson wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Philips tries to close the distance and clinch up but Dawson swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Dawson throws a low kick but it's checked well by Philips.
Philips misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Philips throws a shot from downtown. Dawson moves away and avoids it.

Philips tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Dawson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
No luck for Dawson with that takedown attempt.
Dawson shoots for a takedown but Philips saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Philips tries to clinch up but Dawson circles away and keeps his distance.

and Dawson counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Philips looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paul Philips dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Dawson walks forward, straight into a front kick from Philips.

Philips has closed the distance and engaged Dawson in a clinch.
Philips trying to stall but Dawson improves his position.
Dawson is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Philips gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Philips lands an elbow inside that Dawson shrugs off.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Dawson creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Dawson takes a knee right on the jaw!

Philips breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Philips looking to land some kicks to the body here.

Philips drives through and clinches with Dawson against the cage.
Dawson is breathing heavily.
Philips has had enough of the clinch but Dawson keeps him there for the moment.

Philips pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Daniel Dawson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Dawson moves to clinch but Philips breaks away

and Philips moves into the clinch.

Philips manages to break the clinch.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Philips.
Paul Philips is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Philips swats away the attempt to clinch by Dawson.
Philips feints and then cracks Dawson's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Dawson down.
The fight stays on the outside here - Philips looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Dawson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Philips turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Philips connects with a right that clearly hurt Dawson. He's backed up against the cage with nowhere to go as Philips proceeds to tee off with vicious combinations till Dawson collapses and taps out under the pressure!
