The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

and Velasquez counters with a nice double leg into side control. Smith won't be happy with that.

Smith pushes Velasquez away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Velasquez gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Velasquez postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Smith misses with a strike from the bottom.
Smith is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Velasquez's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Smith has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Velasquez. Oh but Smith has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Velasquez goes limp - he's gone! Smith jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
