PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jeremy Shore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Tidwell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shore comes into the arena with Dr. Feelgood blaring out of the sound system. Tidwell has chosen Papercut as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jeremy Shore!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, David Tidwell!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shore closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Shore lands in his opponent's guard.
Shore wanted to stand there but Tidwell had control of the position.
Shore has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Shore avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Shore postures up.

Tidwell had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Shore is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Tidwell Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Shore's back instead.
Shore tries to break free.

Tidwell is persistently looking for the submission but Shore is defending it well.
Tidwell is trying to stick to Shore's back but Shore is turning into Tidwell. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Tidwell's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Shore.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shore won't allow Tidwell to sweep him here.
Shore tries to stand but Tidwell is controlling from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tidwell throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Tidwell lands a couple of decent looking body shots there.

Shore thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Shore stopping the sweep attempt from Tidwell.

Tidwell is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Tidwell looks gassed!

Shore gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Shore gets a clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Tidwell tries to score a body lock takedown but Shore shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Shore tries to break the clinch but Tidwell is controlling the position.

Shore breaks from the clinch.

Tidwell closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Shore is looking to escape.

Shore makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Shore takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Tidwell scores with a takedown into Shore's guard.
Tidwell is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Tidwell stops Shore from standing up.
Shore wants to sweep but no luck.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shore is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Shore keeping moving, preventing Tidwell from controlling successfully.
Shore is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Shore throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Shore with a lazy takedown attempt

and Tidwell decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Shore's guard.
Shore is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Tidwell is controlling him.
Tidwell advances to half guard.
Shore won't allow Tidwell to pass to mount.
Shore wants to get back to full guard.
Shore wants to get back to his feet.
Shore knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tidwell on the ground.

Shore pushes Tidwell off and gets back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Shore misses with a jab, cross combination.
Tidwell gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Shore counters with a two punch combo.
Shore scoring well with a low kick there.
Shore with a lazy takedown attempt

and Tidwell counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Shore!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Tidwell with the ground and pound from mount.

Tidwell looking for a guillotine from mount but Shore is having none of it.
Tidwell controlling the position easily from mount.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Shore is wriggling around trying to escape.
Tidwell postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Shore badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Tidwell around the waist but Tidwell pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Tidwell is the winner by TKO! Tidwell jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). David Tidwell!
