The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big left from Shain misses.
Shain uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Father is on top in guard.

Shain is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Shain has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Father is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Shain.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Father is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Shain's shoulder. That is not cool.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Stephoune Father will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
