Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Matrix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cobb Nash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nash is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Dry the River. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 9 - 1, fighting out of London, John Matrix!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cobb Nash!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, James Atkins and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matrix throws a body kick that misses.
Matrix throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Nash digs a good hook to Matrix's body.
Matrix throws a leg kick
and Nash counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Nash looks to throw the jab but Matrix is out of range.
Nash lands a jab-cross combination.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Nash!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Matrix lands a slapping body shot.
A looping hook to the body misses from Nash. Matrix does a little dance to reset his feet.
Matrix keeps Nash at a distance using the push kick.
Nash needs to keep his hands up - Matrix had a free shot at his head there.
Nash throws a nice looking combination but Matrix bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Nash has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Matrix can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Matrix has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Nash takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Matrix leaves Nash with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Cobb Nash seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Matrix throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Nash shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Nash was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Nash might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Matrix kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Matrix is in a horrible position here. Nash smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Nash wants to control the pace but Matrix is squirming around nicely.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nash is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Matrix can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Matrix is squirming around, avoiding Nash's attempts to control the action.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Matrix is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Nash is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Nash tries to free his leg and advance position but Matrix is retaining full guard.
Matrix is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Cobb Nash showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!


Nash shoots in and drives through. Matrix sprawls well.
Matrix swings widly with a right hand
and Nash connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Matrix closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Nash's guard.
Matrix wants to control from the top but Nash keeps moving.
Nash has momentary wrist control but Matrix slips an elbow through the middle.
Nash avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Matrix wants to pass the guard but Nash is keeping the position.

Matrix stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nash swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Nash can't keep his opponent in guard - Matrix advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Nash tries to roll over but Matrix keeps him under control.

Nash regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Matrix.

Nash had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Matrix defends it easily.

Nash takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

John Matrix overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
