PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Patrick Tracy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Hodgins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tracy comes into the arena with You Can Kiss My Irish Arse blaring out of the sound system. Alexander Hodgins will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Patrick Tracy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alexander Hodgins!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tracy lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Hodgins at a distance.
Tracy lands a nice hook to Hodgins's body. Hodgins takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Tracy misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Hodgins doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Tracy counters with an outside leg kick.
Tracy darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Tracy misses with an uppercut.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Hodgins.
Tracy is trying to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Tracy manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Hodgins is looking to improve his position.
Hodgins is trying to maintain the position but Tracy is very close to passing his half guard.
Tracy is keen to just control but Hodgins is a slippery customer.

Hodgins is staying active underneath Tracy, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Hodgins makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Hodgins.

Hodgins escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tracy gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Hodgins is looking for a triangle but Tracy pushes his legs off easily.

Hodgins is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Hodgins had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Tracy defends it easily.

Hodgins looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Tracy postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Hodgins is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Tracy, into his guard.

Tracy might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Hodgins is nestled in close to Tracy, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Hodgins is taking a breather. Tracy says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Hodgins wants to work for an arm triangle but Tracy is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Tracy on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Tracy tries to get out of the position.

Hodgins rushes Tracy and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Hodgins is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Tracy blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Tracy has Hodgins pushed against the cage.
Hodgins lands an elbow that stopped Tracy in his tracks for a moment.


It looks like Patrick Tracy has been cut.
Hodgins wants a takedown.
Tracy trying to control the position but instead, Hodgins has worked for underhooks and has pushed Tracy into the cage.

Hodgins is trying to drag Tracy to the mat but Tracy just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Hodgins has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Tracy is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Hodgins shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Tracy pinned against the cage. Tracy gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
