Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Monty Brewster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Juarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Monty Brewster!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jay Juarez!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brewster drops his hands momentarily and Juarez takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Brewster misses with a looping left.
Brewster shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Juarez but Juarez pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Juarez feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Brewster sprawling to the canvas! Brewster rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Juarez finish him?!


Brewster is rocked!


It looks like Monty Brewster has been cut.
Brewster misses with a straight left.
Oh Brewster is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Juarez shoots and misses

and Brewster counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Brewster.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Brewster won't allow Juarez to sweep him here.
Juarez has Brewster pulled in close to control his posture.
Brewster trying to control the position from guard on top but Juarez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Juarez isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Brewster stacks Juarez on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Brewster!
Brewster seems to have got his legs back now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Brewster decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Nice sprawl there from Juarez as Brewster shoots in.

Brewster takes the fight into the clinch.

Brewster escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Brewster throws a right hand that Juarez ducks under and follows up with a left that Juarez also avoids with ease.

Juarez tries to keep at a distance but Brewster has taken the fight into the clinch.
Juarez is trying to break the clinch but Brewster has him pressed against the cage.

Brewster manages to break the clinch.
Brewster fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Juarez falls off balance throwing a combination

and Brewster counters with a nice double leg into side control. Juarez won't be happy with that.
Brewster is breathing heavily.
You can see the frustration on Juarez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
What's Juarez going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.

Brewster decides to stand back up. Brewster steps back and let's Juarez get back to his feet.
Juarez blocks a head kick by Brewster.

Brewster bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Juarez tries to improve position but can't.
You can see the frustration on Juarez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Brewster tries to move into full mount but can't pass Juarez's legs.
Brewster wants to lay and pray for a moment but Juarez keeps working.
Juarez is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Brewster not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Brewster is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Juarez trying to control but Brewster postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Brewster moves into range and clinches up with Juarez.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Brewster takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Brewster has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Juarez uses from the top position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Brewster is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Brewster is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Juarez is controlling him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Juarez swats away the attempt to clinch by Brewster.
Juarez looks to land a combination but Brewster avoids it well.

Brewster rushes Juarez and presses him up against the cage.

Brewster breaks from the clinch.
Juarez slow jab from Brewster misses its intended target.
The crowd cheers as Juarez lands an impressive looking overhand right. Brewster doesn't seem phased though.
Brewster scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Brewster misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Brewster connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Brewster moves in looking to clinch but Juarez pushes him off.
The fighters circling - Juarez throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Brewster seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Juarez looking to hit a scissor sweep but Brewster is one step ahead there.

Brewster stands up and waves to Juarez to follow him.
Juarez misses with a takedown attempt
and Brewster counters with a nice uppercut.
Monty Brewster is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Brewster swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Juarez.
Some wild striking there from Juarez.
Juarez with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Brewster to score with a decent uppercut.

Brewster throws a nice looking combination but Juarez bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Brewster misses with the combination.

Brewster gets the takedown into side control.
Juarez tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Brewster wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Juarez manages to work his way to half guard, despite Brewster's best efforts.
Juarez wants to control but Brewster is keeping busy.

Juarez is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Brewster is staying active.
Juarez slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Brewster wants to pass the guard but Juarez is keeping the position.
Juarez lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Brewster!

Juarez is working for a guillotine from mount but Brewster frees his head quite easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Brewster is looking to get to half guard.
Juarez controlling the position easily from mount.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Juarez throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Juarez lands a with a good body shot.
Juarez throws a shot from downtown. Brewster moves away and avoids it.

Brewster clinches with his opponent.

Brewster breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A jab from Juarez finds it's way through Brewster's defenses.
Brewster throws a right and a left that Juarez avoids nicely.

Brewster looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Juarez!
Brewster throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Juarez because Brewster loaded up on that one.
Brewster trying to control but Juarez is having none of it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Juarez trying to control but Brewster postures up.
Juarez tries to roll over but Brewster keeps him under control.
Brewster wants to lay and pray for a moment but Juarez keeps working.
Jay Juarez has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
A big right from Brewster misses.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Monty Brewster.
Well Brewster has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
