Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Amir Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Saunders (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Saunders has chosen Limp Bizkit - Break Stuff as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Amir Khan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Saunders!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Jonathan Paton and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Saunders gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Khan.
Saunders misses the jab.
Khan moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
A nice leg kick lands there from Saunders.
Saunders looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Khan is fending him off so far but Saunders persists. Nope, Khan circles away and we're back to standing.
Saunders scores with a hook.


It looks like Amir Khan has been cut.
Saunders shoots for a double leg takedown but Khan sprawls well. He's pushed Saunders's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Saunders takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Saunders finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Khan tries to clinch but Saunders moves out of range.
Saunders shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Khan defends it nicely.
Amir Khan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Saunders.
Khan scores with a shot to the body.
A head kick misses from Saunders.
Saunders fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Khan manages to avoid it.
Khan jabs at Saunders's body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Saunders takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Khan throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Left hook, right uppercut from Khan.
Saunders throws a jab when Khan was well out of range.
Saunders misses with a right hand
and Khan counters with a right hand to the body.
Saunders throws a predictable looking body shot
and Khan counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Khan feints and then cracks Saunders's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Saunders down.
Saunders throws a hook but Khan avoids it easily.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Khan, right into the meat.
Saunders missing with a left hand there. Khan was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Saunders throws a leg kick that is checked
and Khan counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Khan has managed to clinch.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Khan escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Saunders shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Joe Saunders seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Saunders throws a series of punches but Khan moves out of range.
Khan moves out of range of the strikes.
Amir Khan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Saunders walks into a straight right hand from Khan.
Khan uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Saunders.
Khan lands a right hook to the body.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Khan, right into the meat.
Saunders on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Saunders tries to close the distance and clinch but Khan swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Nice body punch from Khan.
A big right from Saunders misses.
Khan fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Saunders checks it well.
Khan scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Saunders has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Khan closes the distance and clinches.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Khan is trying to break free.
Khan stalling the fight.
A right hand to the body from Khan.
Khan blocks a punch to the side of the head.
A hook to the body from Khan.
Saunders changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Khan fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Sloppy strikes from Saunders. Those never looked like landing.
Saunders throws a jab but it's blocked by Khan.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Saunders crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Khan - the referee stops the clock and Saunders gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Khan. Saunders manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Khan scores with a body shot.
Khan scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Khan moves out of range of the strikes.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Saunders swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Khan tries a head kick but it misses.
Khan ducks under a wild hook from Saunders.
Saunders throws an overhand right that lands on Khan's shoulder, as Khan tries to avoid the shot.
Saunders throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Jab by Khan.
Saunders throws out a loose jab but Khan uses good head movement to avoid it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Saunders takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Khan takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Saunders scores with a jab.
Khan throws a right hand that Saunders ducks under and follows up with a left that Saunders also avoids with ease.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Saunders will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Saunders lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Khan circles away quickly and effectively.
Khan lands with a nice body kick.
Saunders misses the jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Amir Khan dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Amir Khan's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Saunders throws a hook but Khan blocks it.
Saunders throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Khan on the side of the head.


Khan is rocked!
Saunders fires a straight punch through the middle that cracks Khan square on the jaw! Damn, Khan is out cold on his feet and topples face first to the canvas! Wow, I haven't seen a knockout that brutal in a long time!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:13 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Joe Saunders!
After winning the bout, Joe Saunders thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
