Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Da Coach!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Derrick Thomas!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Daniel Franklin and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Coach shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Thomas tries to hold on but Coach pushes him away.

Coach stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Thomas fails with a takedown attempt.
Thomas tries for a takedown but Coach circles away easily
and Coach counters with a straight right hand.

Coach has managed to clinch.

Coach has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Thomas regains guard immediately.

Coach stands up from Thomas's guard - Coach perhaps looking for a knockout.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Coach feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Coach decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Coach shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Thomas manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Thomas enables Coach to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Thomas manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Thomas is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Thomas really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Coach. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Coach decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Thomas, up you get!
Thomas misses with a double jab.
Coach throws a one two combo.

Coach shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Coach was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Coach fails to move to back control.

Coach is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Coach throws a right and a left that Thomas avoids nicely.
Thomas needs to keep his hands up - Coach had a free shot at his head there.
A jab from Coach finds it's way through Thomas's defenses.
Thomas throws a leg kick

and Coach counters with a nice double leg into side control. Thomas won't be happy with that.

Coach decides to stand up, so the ref orders Thomas to his feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Coach enables Thomas to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Coach manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Thomas has gone for a leg lock! Coach slips out almost immediately though and dives into Thomas's guard.
Thomas wants to stand but Coach is controlling the position.

Coach thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Coach won't allow Thomas to get back to his feet.

Coach stands and steps away. Thomas gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Coach scores with a punch to the head.
Thomas doesn't manage to clinch there - Coach circles away.

Thomas darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Coach makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Derrick Thomas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Coach shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Thomas's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Coach stands up and waves to Thomas to follow him.

Thomas tries to sprawl but Coach drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Coach stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Da Coach dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Thomas takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Thomas misses with a takedown
and Coach counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Thomas misses with the combination.
Thomas misses with a left hand

and Coach counters with a single leg into guard. Thomas didn't expect that.

Coach gets to his feet. Thomas looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Thomas closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Thomas working the ground and pound but Coach is defending the strikes.
Coach is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Thomas is controlling him well.
Thomas throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Coach works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Coach regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Thomas.
Thomas is looking to advance position but Coach has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Coach gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Coach drives through and clinches with Thomas against the cage.

Coach's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Coach stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Coach wants it to stay on the feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Thomas misses with a two punch combination.
Thomas tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Coach scores with a nice head shot.
Thomas misses with a wild combination.
Thomas misses the shot to the body.
Coach checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Coach stuffs the takedown attempt from Thomas. Thomas gets slowly back to his feet.
Da Coach has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Derrick Thomas.
Thomas is breathing heavily.
Thomas closes this distance looking for a takedown but Coach circles away.
A punch combination from Thomas misses.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Thomas.
Thomas swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Thomas gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Thomas throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Coach counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Thomas's guard now.
Da Coach overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Coach gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Thomas shoots in for a takedown but Coach shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Coach cracks Thomas with a right hand to the side of the head.
Nice sprawl there from Coach as Thomas shoots in.
Thomas takes one on the button.
Da Coach is winning the standup battle so far.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Coach is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Thomas can do to turn this around?
Coach catches Thomas with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Thomas tries to clinch but fails miserably
enabling Coach to counter with a crisp jab.

Coach has closed the distance and engaged Thomas in a clinch.
Thomas can't break the clinch.

Coach pulls guard.
Thomas throws an elbow that misses. Coach uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Thomas's guard. Nice move by Coach!
Thomas looking to hit a scissor sweep but Coach is one step ahead there.
Thomas can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Coach controls the pace.

Thomas is working an open guard so Coach takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Coach changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Thomas closes the distance but Coach moves to the side
and Coach counters with a straight right hand.
Thomas shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Coach throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Thomas tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Coach is in Thomas's guard.

Coach stands and steps away. Thomas gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Thomas walks into a stiff left hand from Coach.
Thomas throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Thomas gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Coach moves into the clinch.
Da Coach has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Derrick Thomas.
Thomas tries for a takedown but Coach manages to get underhooks.

Coach turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
