The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Oranje Nassau lands a front kick.
Van Oranje Nassau tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bertane Jr swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Bertane Jr counters with a shoot takedown. Van Oranje Nassau fights it but they end up in guard.

Bertane Jr postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Van Oranje Nassau is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Bertane Jr, into his guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bertane Jr can do anything to dispel that myth.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Bertane Jr has his foot on Van Oranje Nassau's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Van Oranje Nassau works his way back into a safe position though.

Van Oranje Nassau doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Van Oranje Nassau manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bertane Jr is on top in guard.

Bertane Jr drops back looking for a leg! Van Oranje Nassau is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Van Oranje Nassau manages to kick Bertane Jr off! Bertane Jr jumps back into Van Oranje Nassau's guard.
Van Oranje Nassau will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Bertane Jr drops back looking for a leg! Van Oranje Nassau is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Van Oranje Nassau manages to kick Bertane Jr off! Bertane Jr jumps back into Van Oranje Nassau's guard.
Van Oranje Nassau is looking to stand up but Bertane Jr isn't so interested in that idea.
Bertane Jr slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Van Oranje Nassau is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Bertane Jr asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Bertane Jr cracks Van Oranje Nassau with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Bertane Jr is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Van Oranje Nassau knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Van Oranje Nassau tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Bertane Jr wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bertane Jr throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Van Oranje Nassau has his hands clasped together but Bertane Jr breaks the hold and Van Oranje Nassau is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Bertane Jr!
