Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Connor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Cross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Connor comes into the arena with Ça vaut mieux que d'attraper la scarlatine by Ray Venture blaring out of the sound system. Cross has chosen The American Dream Song as his entrance music. David Cross will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
27 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Connor!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
26 - 10 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Cross!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Robert Douchet and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Connor throws a right and a left that Cross avoids nicely.
Nice sprawl there from Connor as Cross shoots in.
Cross lands an overhand right.
Connor throws an off balance right hand
and Cross counters with a right hand to the body.
Connor just misses with a punch to the body.
Connor displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Cross throws out the jab.
Cross lands a nice looking body shot.
Connor moves out of range as Cross strikes.
Connor misses with a jab, cross combination.
Cross moves in looking to clinch but Connor pushes him off.
Connor walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Cross, as that shot connected.
Cross throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Connor stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Cross thumps Connor with a low kick.
Connor misses with a hook to the body
and Cross counters with a left and a right that stings Connor.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Connor throws a jab but it's blocked by Cross.
Connor with a nice cross.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Cross throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Jab by Cross.
Connor throws a right hand that Cross ducks under and follows up with a left that Cross also avoids with ease.
Cross misses with an uppercut.
Cross shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Connor really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Cross lands a heavy elbow.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Poor strikes thrown by Cross there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
The referee warns Connor that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Cross avoids the attempt from Connor to control.
Connor is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Cross is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
That's two minutes gone in the round.

Connor is working hard here to advance position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cross lands a heavy elbow.
Connor keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Cross lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Connor tries to reverse the position but Cross maintains control.
Connor is in a horrible position here. Cross smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cross looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
BOOM! Cross connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Cross drops a big elbow. That's hurt Connor! More shots from Cross and the ref steps in! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). David Cross!
David Cross is the new lightweight champion!
David Cross really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Legion of Pain Nutrition logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
