Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Roger Lettesen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Connor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lettesen comes to the cage accompanied by Machine head, Davidian. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Roger Lettesen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, John Connor!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Wagner Zegers and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lettesen with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Connor tries to land a front kick but Lettesen steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Connor shoots in for a takedown but Lettesen shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Lettesen shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Lettesen trying to work for an americana but Connor has managed to regain full guard.
Lettesen controlling from the top position.
Lettesen is fighting to break Connor's control of his arms but Connor is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Lettesen is looking to stand up but Connor won't let him.

Connor looking for a sweep. Not yet Connor, not yet.
Lettesen loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Connor wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Connor can do anything to dispel that myth.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. John Connor wasn't active enough on the ground.
Lettesen stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lettesen wants it to stay on the feet.

Connor clinches up with Lettesen and pushes him back against the cage.

Lettesen breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Lettesen misses with a wild combination.
Connor closes the distance and clinches up with Lettesen, looking for a takedown. Connor pushes Lettesen against the cage but Lettesen circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Roger Lettesen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Connor.

Connor drives through with a takedown into guard.
Lettesen wants to stand but Connor is controlling the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Lettesen working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Connor has passed into half guard!
Lettesen pushes Connor off looking to stand but Connor dives back in and keeps control.

Connor is looking for a kimura but Lettesen is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Connor to get the leverage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Connor lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Connor wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lettesen keeps working.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Connor takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Connor prevents Lettesen from standing back up.
Connor not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Connor decides to return to a standing position.
Roger Lettesen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lettesen misses with a jab, cross combination.

Lettesen gets a double leg takedown into Connor's guard.

Lettesen drops back, looking for a kneebar! Connor looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Connor looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Connor!
Lettesen is breathing heavily.

Connor looks up at the clock and then as Lettesen takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Connor smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A lull in the action here as Connor stalls from top position.

Connor looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Connor controlling from side mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Connor dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Lettesen stuffs the takedown.
Connor throws a front kick aimed at Lettesen's knee but Lettesen avoids it well.
Connor circles away from the clinch attempt.
Lettesen throws a quick inside leg kick.
Connor misses with an uppercut.
Lettesen misses with a double jab

and Connor decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Lettesen's guard.
Connor stops Lettesen from standing up.
Lettesen keeping full guard, as Connor tries to pass.

Connor works over Lettesen with some ground and pound from guard.
John Connor has got the better of the ground game so far.
Connor trying to control the position from guard on top but Lettesen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Lettesen is trying to keep Connor in close.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Connor chips away with some ground and pound.
Connor postures up and lands a big shot to Lettesen's brow.

Connor sitting in guard here, content to control.
Connor has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Connor throwing strikes but missing.
Lettesen is looking to stand up but Connor isn't so interested in that idea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Connor is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Lettesen tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Connor paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Lettesen fails in his attempt to clinch.

Connor closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Connor lands in his opponent's guard.
Lettesen can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Connor controls the pace.
Connor scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Lettesen kicks Connor off and gets to his feet.
Connor tries to clinch there but Lettesen circles away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lettesen throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Connor.
Danga de danga de dang - Connor scores with a four punch combination!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Lettesen stuffs the takedown attempt from Connor. Connor gets slowly back to his feet.
Lettesen jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Some bone on bone action there as Connor checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Connor throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Lettesen was covering up waiting for the punch and Connor finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lettesen keeping moving, preventing Connor from controlling successfully.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lettesen wants to stand but Connor is controlling the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Connor showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!



Connor gets a takedown into half guard.
Connor working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Connor is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Connor thows a huge punch but Lettesen dodges it nicely.

Connor thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Lettesen looks like he's trying to stand up.

Connor throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Lettesen wants to get back to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Lettesen has hold of Connor's hands but Connor slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Connor perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. John Connor wasn't active enough on the ground.

Connor has Lettesen up against the cage in a clinch.

Lettesen pulls Connor into guard.

Connor has gone for a leg lock! Lettesen slips out almost immediately though and dives into Connor's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Connor wants to sweep here but Lettesen controlling him for the moment.
Lettesen wants to stand but Connor is controlling his posture from full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Connor wants to hit a switch here but Lettesen passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Connor there!

Lettesen looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Connor sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Connor wants to control but Lettesen is keeping busy.

Lettesen seems to be looking for submissions.

Connor kicks off Lettesen and gets to his feet.
Roger Lettesen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Lettesen throws an overhand right that lands on Connor's shoulder, as Connor tries to avoid the shot.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Lettesen misses the shot to the body.
Connor tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Lettesen swivels and escapes.
John Connor is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Connor tries for a takedown but Lettesen sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Connor shoots in but no luck this time.

And that's the end of the fight!
John Connor comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Connor has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
