The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Piper shoots in for a double leg but Zdorovenniy sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Nice takedown defense from Zdorovenniy. No joy for Piper on that attempt.
Zdorovenniy tries to clinch but Piper moves out of range.

Zdorovenniy closes the distance and pushes Piper back into the cage.
Piper blocks a punch to the side of the head.

It looks like Peter Piper has been cut.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Zdorovenniy creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Zdorovenniy is pressed up against the cage. Piper has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Zdorovenniy down to the mat. Zdorovenniy avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Peter Piper. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Piper keeps the fight on the outside.
Zdorovenniy is looking to clinch.
Zdorovenniy tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Piper manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Piper shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Zdorovenniy as he jumps to the side.

Zdorovenniy slaps away a takedown attempt from Piper, before circling back to the center of the mat.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Piper is defended easily by Zdorovenniy.
Piper is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
