Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kido Takayoshi!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Takayoshi shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Harrington leaves Takayoshi with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Harrington gets a double leg takedown into Takayoshi's guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Harrington fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Takayoshi manages to avoid it.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Kido Takayoshi hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Takayoshi shoots in looking for a takedown but Harrington manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Takayoshi's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Harrington gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Takayoshi regains guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Desmond Harrington just wasn't active enough.
Takayoshi tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Takayoshi misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

and Harrington holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Harrington tightens his grip and picks Takayoshi up, before dumping him to the ground. Takayoshi manages to land in guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Takayoshi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Harrington tries to avoid it but Takayoshi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Harrington to the ground. Harrington escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Harrington wants to clinch up but Takayoshi keeps it at a distance.

Harrington is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Takayoshi's half guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Harrington has taken the fight to the clinch.

Harrington turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Harrington manages to end up in side control.

Harrington decides to stand up, so the ref orders Takayoshi to his feet.
Takayoshi shoots in looking for a takedown. Harrington tries to sprawl out of it but Takayoshi keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Harrington manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Takayoshi shoots in for a takedown but Harrington shows good takedown defense.

Takayoshi scores with a hook to the body. Harrington takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Takayoshi is trying to maintain a safe position but Harrington gets an underhook and turns Takayoshi into the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

The ref stands the fighters back up. Desmond Harrington wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Harrington clinches with his opponent.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Takayoshi just misses with a elbow thrown towards Harrington's brow.

Harrington creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Takayoshi tries to circle away but Harrington has him pinned against the cage.
Takayoshi wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Takayoshi is trying to break the clinch but Harrington has him pressed against the cage.
Harrington throws a knee to the head but misses.
Takayoshi jumps guard but Harrington stands there with Takayoshi around his waist. Takayoshi gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Takayoshi wants to break free but Harrington has control.
Takayoshi wants to break the clinch but can't.
Harrington throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Harrington works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Harrington has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Takayoshi bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Harrington's guard.
Harrington looking to hit a scissor sweep but Takayoshi is one step ahead there.

Takayoshi drops back looking for a leg! Harrington is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Harrington manages to kick Takayoshi off! Takayoshi jumps back into Harrington's guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that's the end of the fight!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Harrington, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
