The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ortega tries to sprawl but Loid drives through with a takedown into half guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Loid throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Loid avoids a kick to the body.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Ortega lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Loid has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Loid and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Ortega lands with a nice combination. Loid backs away looking to recover.

Ortega buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Loid takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Ortega fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Loid has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Omar Ortega is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Loid gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Loid keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Ortega's efforts to push away.

A frustrated look appears on Ortega's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Ortega breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Ortega thuds his right hand into Loid's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Ortega connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Ortega throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

and Loid counters with a shoot takedown. Ortega fights it but they end up in guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Loid throws a big right hand that misses.
Ortega could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Loid stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ortega swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Loid trying to control the position from guard on top but Ortega is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Loid is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ortega is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Ortega tries to bum rush Loid with a series of wild strikes but Loid uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
