Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Villi Kotobalavu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jerry Cox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 12 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Villi Kotobalavu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jerry Cox!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Aafke Stam and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cox uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Cox throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Cox misses with a shot to the body
and Kotobalavu counters with a nice uppercut.
Kotobalavu works over Cox's head and body with a nice combination.
Cox takes a swing at Kotobalavu's ribcage but misses.
Cox looks to score with a jab to the body but Kotobalavu is just out of range.
Cox ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kotobalavu moves away.
Cox thows a body shot but no joy.
Cox thows a left - swing and a miss!
Kotobalavu throws a nice outside leg kick.
No joy there for Kotobalavu, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Kotobalavu uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Cox.
Cox tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kotobalavu was well out of range. Poor timing from Cox.
Cox lands a right hook to the body.

Kotobalavu shoots in and bounces Cox off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Kotobalavu throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cox works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kotobalavu accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Cox really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kotobalavu. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kotobalavu throws a strike but Cox rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Cox wants to stand and escape but instead Kotobalavu has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Cox is trying to control the position but Kotobalavu postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kotobalavu is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kotobalavu is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Cox doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kotobalavu.

Kotobalavu wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cox keeps working.

Cox gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Kotobalavu looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Kotobalavu wants to take his opponent's back but Cox doesn't allow it.
Kotobalavu is working hard here to advance position.

Kotobalavu has control of Cox's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Cox regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Cox is squirming around, avoiding Kotobalavu's attempts to control the action.
Cox tries to hold on but Kotobalavu pushes him away.

and Kotobalavu counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Kotobalavu is looking for a kimura but Cox is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kotobalavu to get the leverage.
Kotobalavu is taking a breather. Cox says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Kotobalavu not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Villi Kotobalavu overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Kotobalavu is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Kotobalavu is stalling here. Cox is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Kotobalavu seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Cox has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Cox is trying to stick to Kotobalavu's back but Kotobalavu is turning into Cox. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Cox's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Kotobalavu.
Kotobalavu working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Cox's head.

Kotobalavu thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Kotobalavu throwing strikes from guard but Cox blocks nicely.
Cox has momentary wrist control but Kotobalavu slips an elbow through the middle.

Kotobalavu has gone for a leg lock! Cox slips out almost immediately though and dives into Kotobalavu's guard.
Kotobalavu is trying to control the position but Cox postures up.
Kotobalavu is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Cox got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kotobalavu has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Cox has managed to get both his arms back between Kotobalavu's legs - danger averted.

Cox has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Kotobalavu is proving hard to escape from.

Cox gets to his feet. Kotobalavu looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kotobalavu, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
