The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guise throws a combination that misses

and Nifontov counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Guise's guard now.

Nifontov drops back, looking for a kneebar! Guise looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Guise looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Guise!

Guise wants to control his opponent's hands but Nifontov gets his hands free.

Nifontov is working for a rear naked choke. Guise is not defending it well and Nifontov has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Guise refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Guise's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ivan Nifontov!
