PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brad Bennett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zhang Wufie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bennett comes to the cage accompanied by Stemm - Face The Pain. Wufie has chosen Beg Waves as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wufie's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Bennett connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Wufie scrambles back to his feet.

Bennett lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Bennett pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Bennett swings for the body but Wufie moves out of range.

Bennett throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Wufie sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Bennett fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Wufie manages to avoid it.
Bennett lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Wufie ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Bennett has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Wufie.
Wufie tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bennett sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Wufie somewhat.

Bennett dives in and grabs Wufie's left leg, looking for a takedown. Wufie pushes down on Bennett's head and hops out.

Brad Bennett has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Zhang Wufie.
Wufie with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Bennett to score with a decent uppercut.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Wufie uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Bennett.
Wufie gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Bennett lands a slapping body shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Bennett counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Wufie's guard now.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Wufie had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bennett defends it easily.

Bennett has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Wufie has an active guard here but Bennett has managed to pass into half guard.

Bennett stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Wufie to get to his feet.

Bennett is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Wufie is defending well.

Bennett turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Bennett manages to end up in side control.
Bennett works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
The referee asks Bennett politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Bennett prefers to stall for the moment though.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
