PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack Fadden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kyle Reese (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fadden kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is Walk. Reese is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Kings of Leon- Crawl. Jack Fadden had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Fadden!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kyle Reese!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reese fails in his attempt to clinch.
Fadden tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Reese paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Fadden misses with a body shot.
Reese throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Fadden's waist but Fadden gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Reese off to one side.
Jack Fadden seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fadden shoots and misses

and Reese counters by clinching up.

Fadden lands a takedown into guard.
Reese looking to hit a scissor sweep but Fadden is one step ahead there.

Fadden gets to his feet - Reese follows without any prompting.
Reese fails with a takedown attempt.
Fadden avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Reese shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Fadden counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Jack Fadden has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kyle Reese.

Reese is working an open guard so Fadden takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Reese manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Fadden throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Reese works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fadden is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Fadden has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Reese wants to stand up but Fadden is controlling him.
Fadden cracks Reese with a solid left hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fadden gets to his feet. Reese looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Reese shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Reese was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Reese looks gassed!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Fadden wants to try and get back to his feet.

Fadden working to try and regain half guard.
Fadden is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Reese prevents Fadden from getting the reversal.
Reese trying to control but Fadden is having none of it.

Reese stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Fadden drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The referee asks Fadden politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Fadden prefers to stall for the moment though.
Fadden throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Fadden lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Reese down.
Fadden is looking to take a break and control but Reese is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Fadden is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Reese is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Reese is trying to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Fadden overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Fadden wants to control but Reese is keeping him busy.

Reese is staying active underneath Fadden, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Fadden decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

The fight stays on the outside here - Reese looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Fadden swings for the body but Reese moves out of range.
Fadden tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Reese is looking to control Fadden's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Reese avoid being mounted?

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Reese counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Fadden wants to get back to full guard.
Reese is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Fadden wants to get back to full guard but Reese has mounted him!

Fadden wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Reese scores with strikes from the back.
Will Reese go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

and Reese counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Reese trying to control the position from guard on top but Fadden is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Reese slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Reese decides to stand back up. Reese steps back and let's Fadden get back to his feet.

Reese is not content to let Fadden control the position.
Fadden lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Reese is trying to get back to half guard.
Fadden lands some shots froms side control.
Fadden scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Reese to see if he's OK.

Reese is looking to reverse the position.
Reese struggling a bit here.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Fadden decides to take the fight back to the feet.

and Fadden counters with a single leg into guard. Reese didn't expect that.

Fadden drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Reese manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Fadden has Reese in his guard.

That was a close round but Jack Fadden did the better work so I'd imagine he'll take it.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Reese checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Fadden closes the distance but Reese moves to the side

and Reese counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Fadden wants to sweep here but Reese controlling him for the moment.
Fadden doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Fadden manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Reese manages to get himself to full guard.

Fadden tries to free his leg and advance position but Reese is retaining full guard.
Reese wants to get back to his feet but Fadden is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Fadden pushes down on Reese's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Reese won't allow Fadden to pass to mount.
Fadden is taking a breather. Reese says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Fadden thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Reese's head.
Reese slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Fadden. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kyle Reese dominated that fourth round.
That's time! Fadden's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Fadden breaks from Reese's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Fadden has control of Reese's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Reese regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Reese keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

Reese tries to hold on but Fadden pushes him away.
Fadden scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Fadden lands a heavy elbow.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Reese is trying to escape the mount.
Fadden with shots to the head and body - Reese looks very uncomfortable down there.
Fadden is landing with some decent strikes but Reese is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Reese is looking to improve his position but Fadden isn't that keen on the idea.
Reese manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Fadden is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Fadden wants to lay and pray for a moment but Reese keeps working.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Reese looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Fadden puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Reese is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Fadden seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Reese does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jack Fadden showed his dominance in that final round.
