The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodriguez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Rodriguez tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gracie paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Gracie blocks a head kick by Rodriguez.
Rodriguez could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Rodriguez tries to clinch but Gracie is having none of it.

Rodriguez lands a damaging elbow.
Gracie has Rodriguez pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Rodriguez manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Rodriguez seems to be working for a kimura but Gracie defends the submission attempt.

Jose Luis Rodriguez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rodriguez moves in looking to clinch but Gracie pushes him off.

Rodriguez fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Gracie, pushing him back against the cage.
Gracie takes an elbow to the forehead.
Rodriguez lands a big knee to the head and Gracie goes down! Rodriguez pounces and finishes the fight with strikes! He jumps to his feet and celebrates with the crowd!
