Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Octavio Ramos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jacky Ler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ler has chosen Rise of the fallen as his entrance music. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Octavio Ramos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jacky Ler!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Anni Minnemäki and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ramos throws a series of strikes that have Ler backpedaling.
Octavio Ramos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ramos pushes Ler up against the cage in a clinch.
Ler lands a shot to the body.
Ler lands an uppercut.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Ler.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ramos tries for a takedown. No joy.
Ler scores with a shoulder strike.
Ler gets through Ramos's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Ramos jumps guard but Ler stands there with Ramos around his waist. Ramos gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Ler breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Ler thuds his shin into the meat of Ramos's side.
Ramos swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Ler has managed to clinch.
Ler digs a right hand into Ramos's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Ramos's gas tank.
Ramos is breathing heavily.

Ler's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Ler closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Ramos can't break the clinch.

Ler manages to break the clinch.

Ler clinches.

Ler is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Ramos can't fight it off and eventually Ler manages to take the fight to the floor. Ramos looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Ler looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
It looks like Ler might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jacky Ler hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Ler moves out of range of the body kick.

Ramos gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Ler stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ler stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Ler scores with a shoulder strike.
Ler works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Ramos's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Ler pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Ler has managed to clinch.
Ramos wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Ler takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Ler lands a hook that snaps the head of Ramos backwards.

Ler pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Ramos changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ler tries to avoid it but Ramos manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ler to the ground. Ler escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Octavio Ramos. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ler dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Ramos. That did some damage!
Ramos fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Ler lands with a thumping leg kick.
Ramos throws a head kick that misses

and Ler counters by moving into the clinch.

A body shot lands from Ler.
Ramos is trying to pull guard but Ler has him pressed against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ler lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Ler lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
A nice right hand lands inside from Ler.
A left hand lands to the body for Ler.
Ler lands a left hand that snaps the head of Ramos backwards.
Nice body punch from Ler - that landed with a thud.
Ler lands a knee to the head.
Ler presses Ramos against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

Ler breaks from the clinch.

Ler closes the distance and pushes Ramos back into the cage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Ler breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ramos takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Ramos moves into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Ramos's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Ler makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Ler presses Ramos against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Still in the clinch, Ler scores with a nice short uppercut.
Ler lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Ler misses with a knee strike.
Ler drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Ramos gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Ler's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
A body shot lands from Ler.
Ler gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Ramos tries to stall but Ler uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
A short body shot lands from Ler as the two fighters clinch.

Still in the clinch, Ler scores with a nice short uppercut.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Ler lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Ler pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Ler lands with a thumping leg kick.
Ramos fails to land the takedown.

Ler clinches up with Ramos and pushes him back against the cage.

Ler breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Ler cracks Ramos with a right hand to the side of the head.
The fighters circle momentarily. Ler darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Ler misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Ramos.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ramos takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Ramos forces Ler back against the cage and clinches.
Ler has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ler lands a leg kick that knocks Ramos off balance momentarily.
Ramos uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Ler.

Ramos has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Ler after a bit of a struggle.

No joy there for Ler, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Ler fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Ramos.

Ler connects with a body shot that sends Ramos's belly button to the back.
Ler is trying hard to land a takedown here. Ramos sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ramos looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Ramos has closed the distance and engaged Ler in a clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Ler lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Ramos tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Ramos shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ler pinned against the cage. Ler gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ramos doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Ramos is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Ler gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Jacky Ler comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ler has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
