The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smasher tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Yamashita swivels and escapes.

Yamashita shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Smasher is trying to defend but Yamashita finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Yasuhiro Yamashita.

Smasher is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Yamashita defends well.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Smasher connects with a nice short shot to Yamashita's temple.
Smasher is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Smasher cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Smasher breaks from Yamashita's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Smasher knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Yamashita on the ground.
Yamashita is in a horrible position here. Smasher smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Smasher cracks Yamashita with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Smasher has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Yamashita's face.

Smasher postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Yamashita bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Smasher and the fight is over!
