The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thenn looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Gomez's corner calls for a 1-2. Gomez obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Thenn dives in and grabs Gomez's left leg, looking for a takedown. Gomez pushes down on Thenn's head and hops out.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Thenn fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Gomez avoids it really well and circles away.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Thenn looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Gomez with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Gomez has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Thenn gets cracked there but stands up to it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Gomez feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Thenn sprawling to the canvas! Thenn rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Gomez finish him?!

Oh Thenn is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Gomez is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Thenn flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Thenn is out cold! Gomez holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!
