The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wallace closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Barnett tries to improve position but can't.
Wallace scores with a couple of short elbows.
Barnett sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Barnett won't allow Wallace to pass to mount.

Barnett is refusing to be controlled, as Wallace sits in half guard.

Wallace trying to mount his opponent but Barnett defends it.

Wallace is keen to just control but Barnett is a slippery customer.

Wallace is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Wallace is nestled in close to Barnett, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Barnett manages to get to full guard.
Wallace sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Barnett's guard.
Wallace looks to land a strike but Barnett avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Barnett has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Wallace can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Wallace stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Barnett swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Wallace is pushing down on Barnett's leg trying to pass to half guard. Barnett is fighting to maintain full guard but Wallace has managed to sneak the leg through.

Wallace got a little sloppy there for a moment and Barnett has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Wallace has managed to get both his arms back between Barnett's legs - danger averted.
Wallace wants to control from the top but Barnett keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Barnett had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Wallace defends it easily.

Barnett is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Wallace defends well.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
