PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gordon Freeman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Veldrane Sengir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Gordon Freeman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Veldrane Sengir!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Tiny Johnson and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sengir scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Sengir wants to take a breather but Freeman manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Sengir.
Freeman on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Freeman tries to get out of the position.
Sengir trying to control but Freeman is working from the bottom.
Freeman has momentary wrist control but Sengir slips an elbow through the middle.
Sengir wants to control from the top but Freeman keeps moving.
Sengir missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Sengir content to stall in guard here.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Veldrane Sengir wasn't active enough on the ground.
Sengir wants to clinch up but Freeman keeps it at a distance.
Sengir fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Sengir tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Freeman paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Freeman throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sengir.
Gordon Freeman is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Freeman throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Sengir scores with a head kick.
Jab by Freeman.
Sengir tries to clinch but Freeman is having none of it.
Sengir closes the distance but Freeman moves to the side
and Freeman counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.


It looks like Veldrane Sengir has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sengir shoots in but no luck this time.
Sengir changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Freeman tries to avoid it but Sengir manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Freeman to the ground. Freeman escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Gordon Freeman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Veldrane Sengir.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sengir is looking to clinch but Freeman is avoiding it.

Sengir shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Sengir was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Sengir goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Freeman is on top in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Freeman gets to his feet. Sengir looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Freeman looks to land a left hand but Sengir moved out of range nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sengir tries to score a power double leg takedown but Freeman sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sengir somewhat.
Freeman tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Sengir was well out of range. Poor timing from Freeman.
Horrible takedown by Sengir or perhaps it was just good defense by Freeman which made him look bad.
Sengir tries to clinch up but Freeman circles away and keeps his distance.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Freeman stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Freeman wants it to stay on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Veldrane Sengir dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Veldrane Sengir's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Sengir closes this distance looking for a takedown but Freeman circles away.

Sengir shoots in and bounces Freeman off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Freeman keeping moving, preventing Sengir from controlling successfully.
Sengir stays in close to Freeman's body and controls the position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Veldrane Sengir hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Freeman stuffs the takedown.
Freeman defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Sengir.
Gordon Freeman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Veldrane Sengir.
Nice sprawl there from Freeman as Sengir shoots in.
Gordon Freeman is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Freeman throws out a loose jab but Sengir uses good head movement to avoid it.

Sengir wants to clinch.
Freeman misses with a wild combination.
Freeman connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
No joy there for Freeman, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Sengir shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Freeman pinned against the cage. Freeman gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Sengir dodges the punch combination from Freeman.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Some wild striking there from Freeman.
Freeman misses with a hook

and Sengir counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Sengir is looking to advance position but Freeman won't allow it.
Freeman tries to kick Sengir off but Sengir keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sengir controlling the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Veldrane Sengir was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Sengir fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Veldrane Sengir showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

enabling Freeman to counter with a crisp jab.

Freeman leaves Sengir with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Gordon Freeman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Veldrane Sengir.
Freeman misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Freeman misses with a straight right.
Freeman stuns Sengir with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Sengir is looking to clinch but Freeman is avoiding it.

Sengir takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Sengir looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Freeman is fending him off so far but Sengir persists. Nope, Freeman circles away and we're back to standing.
Sengir takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Freeman ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Freeman connects with a crisp jab.
Freeman fails to land with a series of punches.
Sengir shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Freeman throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Sengir counters with a single leg into guard. Freeman didn't expect that.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sengir prevents Freeman from getting back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Freeman can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Sengir controls the pace.
Sengir wants to control from the top but Freeman keeps moving.

Freeman is working an open guard so Sengir takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Sengir shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Freeman sprawls well. Freeman wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Sengir gets slowly back to his feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Sengir is defended easily by Freeman.

Sengir closes the distance but Freeman moves to the side
and Freeman makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Veldrane Sengir is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Horrible takedown by Sengir or perhaps it was just good defense by Freeman which made him look bad.
Sengir shoots in and drives through. Freeman sprawls well.
Freeman circles away from the clinch attempt
and Freeman counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Gordon Freeman has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Veldrane Sengir seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sengir shoots in looking for a takedown. Freeman tries to sprawl out of it but Sengir keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Freeman manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sengir tries for a takedown but Freeman sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sengir takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

And that's the end of the fight!
Gordon Freeman showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Sengir has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
