PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Forest Gump (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zirry Swan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Swan is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Blame it on my ADD. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gump on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Gump throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Swan on the side of the head.
Gump moves out of range as Swan strikes.
Gump connects with a jab.
Gump throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Gump throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A chopping leg kick lands by Swan.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Swan takes a swing at Gump's ribcage but misses.
Gump misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Swan.
Swan tries to clinch but Gump is having none of it.
Gump uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Swan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gump paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Gump throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Gump lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Swan at a distance.
Gump fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Swan manages to avoid it.

Swan uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Gump.
Gump looks to land a left hand but Swan moved out of range nicely.

Swan lands a nice leg kick that just misses Gump's sensitive parts.
Swan fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Gump has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Swan closes the distance and pushes Gump back into the cage.
Swan misses with the head strike.
Gump prevents a body shot from Swan.
Swan tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Gump's elbow.
Swan lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Swan tries to work over Gump's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Gump breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gump takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Swan tries to clinch but Gump is having none of it.

Swan clinches up with Gump and pushes him back against the cage.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Swan.
Gump is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Gump tries to pull guard but Swan won't allow it.

Swan misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Swan can't find room to land a body shot as Gump controls the action.
Gump has had enough of the clinch but Swan keeps him there for the moment.

Gump pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Gump scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Swan doesn't seem bothered though.
Swan avoids the body shot from Gump.

and Swan takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Gump tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Gump misses with a hook. Swan ducked under it nicely.

The fight stays on the outside here - Swan looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Swan, as that shot connected.
Zirry Swan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gump with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Swan to score with a decent uppercut.

Gump ducks right into an uppercut from Swan.
Gump lands with an overhand left.
Swan dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Gump. That did some damage!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Swan lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Swan creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Gump with a big uppercut! Gump tries to clinch up but Swan pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Gump to the mat! Gump covers up and Swan unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
