PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Earth Quake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roman Petkovic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Quake comes to the cage accompanied by PRODIGY - RUN WITH THE WOLVES . The crowd seem to be enjoying Petkovic's choice of entrance music: BvC Crew - KOSOVO. Earth Quake has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Earth Quake!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Roman Petkovic!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Daniel Franklin and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Quake moves out of range of the leg kick from Petkovic.
Quake lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Quake is looking to clinch but Petkovic is avoiding it.
Quake ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Petkovic moves away.
Quake takes a swing at Petkovic's ribcage but misses.
Petkovic blocks a jab.
Petkovic finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Quake has Petkovic up against the cage in a clinch.
Quake tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Petkovic avoids it.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Quake obliges.
Quake looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Petkovic gets control of Quake's arms and successfully pulls guard. Petkovic will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Petkovic has his foot on Quake's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Quake works his way back into a safe position though.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Quake's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Quake pushes down on Petkovic's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Petkovic is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Quake has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Petkovic has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Quake can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Quake controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Petkovic is trying to control the position but Quake postures up.

Earth Quake has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Petkovic fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Quake has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A solid body kick from Petkovic.
Quake scores with a punch to the head.
Quake throws a jab but it's blocked by Petkovic.
A low kick from Quake is predictable there
and Petkovic counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Petkovic shoots in but no luck this time.
A lazy left from Quake finds it's target.
Petkovic swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Petkovic fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Quake blocks a leg kick.
Petkovic checks a leg kick nicely.
Petkovic fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Quake throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Petkovic.
Roman Petkovic seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Quake ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Petkovic tries a low kick but Quake avoids it.
Petkovic shoots in and drives through. Quake sprawls well.
Earth Quake has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roman Petkovic.

Quake connects with an inside leg kick.
Petkovic just misses with a punch to the body.

Quake throws a right hand that Petkovic ducks under and follows up with a left that Petkovic also avoids with ease.

Petkovic closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Petkovic lands in his opponent's guard.
Quake is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Quake content to control rather than advance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Earth Quake will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Quake does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Petkovic throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Petkovic misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Petkovic motions for Quake to come forward. Petkovic throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Petkovic has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.


It looks like Roman Petkovic has been cut.
Petkovic shoots in and drives through. Quake sprawls well.
Quake moves out of range as Petkovic throws a body kick.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Quake counters with a huge head kick that drops Petkovic! The ref dives in to stop the fight and the crowd goes wild!
