Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Slade (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Ass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, John Slade!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Jack Ass!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Roosa Järviläinen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ass shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Ass trying to control the action but Slade is working from the bottom.
Ass looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Slade is looking to improve his position.
Slade trying to control but Ass postures up.
Slade wants to get back to his feet.
Ass thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Ass is trying to control the action in half guard but Slade is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Ass trying to control the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Slade is looking for a sweep. Ass is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Slade throws a hook but Ass avoids it easily.
Slade lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Ass ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Ass wants to clinch.
Ass looks to land a left hand but Slade moved out of range nicely.

Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Ass!

Nice sprawl there from Slade as Ass shoots in.
Ass throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Ass thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Slade if he has to take too many more of those.

Ass has taken the fight to the clinch.
Ass throws a head punch that misses.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ass scores with a shoulder strike.

Ass is trying to push Slade away but Slade has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Slade blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Slade lands an uppercut.

Slade throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Ass tries to clinch but Slade is having none of it.

Ass perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Ass looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Slade with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Slade keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Ass has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Ass is trying to control the action in half guard but Slade is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jack Ass dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Ass slips a straight right by Slade.
The fighters circling - Ass throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Jack Ass is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A shot to the liver by Ass. Beautiful body shot.
Ass connects with a solid leg kick.
Slade blocks a head kick by Ass.
Ass connects with a leg kick. Slade looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Ass doesn't manage to clinch there - Slade circles away.
Ass uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Slade.
Ass shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Slade defends it nicely.
Ass lands with a shot to the body.
Ass takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Ass closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ass lands in his opponent's guard.
Slade is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Ass stops Slade from standing up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Ass shoots for a takedown but Slade saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Slade is looking to land body kicks.
Ass throws a lazy uppercut
and Slade counters with an outside leg kick.
Ass lands with a right hand.
Ass fails with the takedown.
John Slade has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Ass.
Slade ducks under a wild hook from Ass.
Ass scores with a hook.
Ass throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Slade counters with a body kick that stops Ass in his tracks momentarily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A head kick misses from Slade.
Slade moves in looking to clinch but Ass pushes him off.

Ass closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Slade quickly recovers to half guard.
Ass looks to land a strike but Slade avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Slade keeping full guard, as Ass tries to pass.
Slade looking for a sweep. Not yet Slade, not yet.
Slade is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Slade can't keep his opponent in guard - Ass advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Slade keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Slade avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Ass.

Ass missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Ass not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Ass is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Slade defends it well.

Slade wants to get back to his feet.

Jack Ass showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Ass lands the left hand.
Jack Ass seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Ass throws a body punch but Slade moves out of range.
Ass throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Slade sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Slade uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Ass.

Ass looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Slade is looking to escape.
Ass seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Slade does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Ass drops an elbow to the side of Slade's head.
Slade wants to get back to his feet.

Ass not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Ass wants to free his trapped foot but Slade is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Ass is taking a breather. Slade says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Ass's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Slade wants to improve his position but Ass is controlling well.
John Slade has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jack Ass hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Ass working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Ass looking to slow down the pace here.
Ass blocking some punches.
Slade is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Ass is keeping busy.
Ass misses with the head strike.
Slade tries to circle away but Ass has him pinned against the cage.

Slade is looking to break free of the clinch but Ass has double underhooks.
Ass swings wildly with an uppercut but Slade uses good head movement to avoid it.

Ass has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Slade regains guard immediately.
Slade pulls Ass in close to prevent any damage.
Ass sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Slade's guard.
Slade is concentrating on defense, preventing Ass from advancing position.

Ass takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Jack Ass is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Ass missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Ass is trying to control the action in half guard but Slade is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Jack Ass has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Slade jabbing away but nothing is landing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ass looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
No luck for Ass with that takedown attempt.
Ass jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jack Ass comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ass has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
