And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andrew McRaylen!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Tiny Johnson and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McRaylen scores with a spinning back kick!
Rua shoots and misses

and McRaylen holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
With the fighters up against the cage, McRaylen throws an elbow but misses.
McRaylen has a couple of punches blocked by Rua.
McRaylen tries a body shot but Rua blocks it.

Rua decides to pull guard.
McRaylen tries to stand but Rua is controlling from the bottom.
McRaylen wants to pass the guard but Rua is keeping the position.
McRaylen wants to get up but he can't break Rua's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Andrew McRaylen wasn't active enough on the ground.
Rua shoots in for a takedown but McRaylen shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
McRaylen tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rua paws at him with a jab and circles away.
McRaylen defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Rua.

Rua shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with McRaylen but McRaylen pushes him off and we're back to square one.

McRaylen misses with a hook to the ribs.
Rua has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. McRaylen is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Rua takes a knee right on the jaw!

McRaylen cracks Rua with a nice body shot.
Rua goes for a takedown attempt but McRaylen pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

McRaylen makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Rua jumps guard but McRaylen stands there with Rua around his waist. Rua gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
McRaylen lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
McRaylen is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Rua tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. McRaylen just stands there and leans against the cage.
McRaylen swings wildly with an uppercut but Rua uses good head movement to avoid it.
McRaylen prevents a takedown attempt there.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if McRaylen can do anything to dispel that myth.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as McRaylen accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
McRaylen wants to stand and escape but instead Rua has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
