Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dennis Hill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and JD Hopkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dennis Hill!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, JD Hopkins!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Roosa Järviläinen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hopkins closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hill to the mat! Hill manages to get full guard.
Hopkins postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Hopkins wants to control from the top but Hill keeps moving.
Hopkins won't allow Hill to sweep him here.
Hopkins looking to pass the guard.
Hill has momentary wrist control but Hopkins slips an elbow through the middle.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Hopkins missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Hopkins wants to control from the top but Hill keeps moving.
Hill is trying to control the position but Hopkins postures up.
Hopkins trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Hopkins in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Hopkins trying to control but Hill is working from the bottom.
Hill is trying to keep Hopkins in close.

Hill wants to stand up but Hopkins is controlling him.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hopkins accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Hopkins is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Hill is trying to control the position but Hopkins postures up.
Hopkins trying to control but Hill is working from the bottom.
Hill has momentary wrist control but Hopkins slips an elbow through the middle.
Hopkins trying to control the position from guard on top but Hill is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hopkins trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Hopkins wants to control from the top but Hill keeps moving.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hopkins postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Hopkins advances to half guard.
Hopkins throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Hopkins should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hill is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Hopkins scores with a couple of nice shots.
Hopkins wants to pass the guard but Hill is defending well.
Hopkins performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Hill is breathing heavily.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hill is trying to stand.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Hopkins has eaten all the pies!
Hill is refusing to be controlled, as Hopkins sits in half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hopkins passes to full mount!
Hopkins lands a big shot there that rocks Hill but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.


It looks like Dennis Hill has been cut.
Hill taking shots to the head.
Hopkins fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A nice elbow there by Hopkins.


Dennis Hill's cut is getting worse.
Hopkins lands a big elbow - Hill is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Hill is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). JD Hopkins!
After the fight, JD Hopkins was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
