Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Pouncy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Palhares (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marcus Pouncy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jake Palhares !
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Luis Engracia and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Palhares misses with a double jab.
Pouncy takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.


It looks like Marcus Pouncy has been cut.

Pouncy dives in and scores a takedown into Palhares 's guard.
Pouncy loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Palhares is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Palhares can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Pouncy controls the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pouncy throws an elbow that misses. Palhares uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Pouncy's guard. Nice move by Palhares !
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jake Palhares hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Pouncy takes a kick to the side of the head.
Palhares on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Pouncy. Pouncy obviously looking to wear him down.
A shot to the liver by Palhares . Beautiful body shot.
Palhares misses with a head kick.
Palhares fails with an attempt to clinch.
Palhares throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Pouncy's head.

Palhares fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Pouncy, pushing him back against the cage.

Pouncy has clasped his hands together around Palhares 's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pouncy wants to control but Palhares is keeping him busy.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Palhares manages to get back to half guard.
Pouncy really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Pouncy tries to pass to full mount but Palhares defends it.
Pouncy controlling the action here.
Pouncy knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Palhares on the ground.

We're going to have a standup here because Marcus Pouncy wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Palhares has closed the distance and engaged Pouncy in a clinch.

Palhares gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Pouncy regains guard.
Palhares content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Pouncy is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Pouncy on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Pouncy tries to get out of the position.

Palhares looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Palhares stands up and beckons Pouncy to his feet.
Palhares stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Pouncy.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Palhares scores with a jab.
Palhares moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Palhares will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
A combination from Palhares does no damage.
Pouncy tries to clinch up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jake Palhares dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Marcus Pouncy's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Palhares avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Pouncy closes the distance and pushes Palhares back into the cage.
Pouncy misses with a knee strike.
Pouncy is trying to push Palhares away but Palhares has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Pouncy gets underhooks to prevent Palhares 's takedown attempt.
Pouncy is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Pouncy changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Palhares fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Marcus Pouncy is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Pouncy slaps away a takedown attempt from Palhares , before circling back to the center of the mat.
Palhares swats away the attempt to clinch by Pouncy.
Jake Palhares seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Palhares throws the kick towards the body but Pouncy avoids it.

Palhares tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pouncy swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Pouncy closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Palhares 's guard.
Palhares wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Palhares avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Pouncy shoots in and bounces Palhares off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Pouncy is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Palhares has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Pouncy is looking to defend but Palhares has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Pouncy! Palhares pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Pouncy taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Jake Palhares !
Jake Palhares opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
