PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robert Hunt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Funny McGee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Hunt might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Super Massive Black Hole. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Robert Hunt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Funny McGee!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Lou da Vinci and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGee darts in trying to clinch
and Hunt counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Hunt fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but McGee avoids it really well and circles away.

Hunt decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Hunt looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
McGee is looking to improve his position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hunt passes to full mount!
McGee is trying to escape the mount.

Hunt is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but McGee is surviving well by controlling Hunt's body position as best he can.
Hunt pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Hunt is going oldschool here, as he tries to force McGee to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so McGee shrugs it off.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hunt working for a submission but McGee is keeping him at bay.
Hunt avoids the attempt from McGee to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hunt looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
McGee is looking to get to half guard.

Hunt working away from the top, dropping strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hunt wants to control the pace but McGee is squirming around nicely.
McGee is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
McGee looks gassed!
Hunt is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Hunt trying to control but McGee is having none of it.

Hunt stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

Hunt shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with McGee but McGee pushes him off and we're back to square one.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
No luck for Hunt with that takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Robert Hunt. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hunt circles away from the clinch attempt

and Hunt counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in McGee's guard now.
McGee throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
McGee keeping moving, preventing Hunt from controlling successfully.
McGee wants to control but Hunt passes easily into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Robert Hunt dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



McGee tries to sprawl but Hunt drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Hunt is looking for a kimura but McGee is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hunt to get the leverage.
McGee moves into full guard.
Hunt wants to control from the top but McGee keeps moving.
Hunt is really struggling to control McGee but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Hunt passes into half guard.
McGee is trying to control but can't.
McGee is breathing heavily.
Hunt looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
McGee is not content to let Hunt control the position.
Hunt uses his free foot to push down on McGee's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for McGee.

McGee is looking to get to half guard.

Hunt is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, McGee has managed to escape the submission attempt.
McGee is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McGee in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Hunt avoids the attempt from McGee to control.

Hunt is working for a guillotine from mount but McGee frees his head quite easily.
Hunt scoring with strikes but McGee is staying in there.

Hunt get's back to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
McGee slaps away a takedown attempt from Hunt, before circling back to the center of the mat.
McGee closes the distance looking to clinch

and Hunt counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for McGee!

Hunt gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
McGee wants to clinch
and Hunt counters with a nice uppercut.

Hunt darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Hunt lands strikes from half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Hunt is working for a kimura but McGee is defending it quite comfortably.
Hunt works his foot free and advances to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Robert Hunt dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Hunt is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in McGee's half guard.

Hunt is working for a kimura but McGee is defending it quite comfortably.

McGee takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Hunt is looking to take a break and control but McGee is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Hunt is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
McGee tries to kick Hunt off but Hunt keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Funny McGee has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

McGee has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hunt is working away from the top position though.

Hunt has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can McGee defend it? Hunt steps over the head and cranks it - McGee is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Hunt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:18 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Robert Hunt!
