Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rodrigo Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Carlos Alves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rodrigo Silva!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Daniel Cesar and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva tries to close the distance and clinch up but Alves swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Silva shoots in and gets a takedown into Alves's guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Alves not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Alves working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Silva doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Silva manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Alves wants to control from the top but Silva keeps moving.

Alves thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Silva keeping moving, preventing Alves from controlling successfully.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Rodrigo Silva hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Alves avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Alves clinches up with Silva and pushes him back against the cage.

Silva manages to pull guard.
Silva tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Silva has his foot on Alves's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Alves works his way back into a safe position though.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Alves postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Alves is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Alves trying to control the position from guard on top but Silva is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Silva really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Alves. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Alves is pushing down on Silva's leg trying to pass to half guard. Silva is fighting to maintain full guard but Alves has managed to sneak the leg through.
Alves trying to control the action but Silva is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Alves is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Silva is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Alves seems to be working for a kimura but Silva defends the submission attempt.
Alves is thwarting Silva's attempts to control the position.

Silva has one foot on Alves's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Silva darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Silva looks gassed!

Alves looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Silva is looking for a kimura but Alves is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Silva to get the leverage.
Alves tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Alves trying to control here.
Silva throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Alves regains full guard. Nicely done.

Alves looking for a triangle here. Silva is fighting it but it looks tight! Alves pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Silva is tapping out - this one is all over!
