PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hento Lessu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maciej Gajwer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Roosa Järviläinen and Anni Minnemäki.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gajwer shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lessu sprawls well. Lessu wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gajwer gets slowly back to his feet.
Lessu throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gajwer's waist but Gajwer gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lessu off to one side.

Gajwer throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Lessu tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Gajwer is in Lessu's guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Gajwer stands up from Lessu's guard - Gajwer perhaps looking for a knockout.

Lessu tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Gajwer presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Lessu jumps guard and drags Gajwer to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Lessu is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Gajwer is controlling him.
Lessu tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Lessu throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gajwer stands and steps away. Lessu gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Gajwer shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lessu as he avoids it easily.

Lessu fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Gajwer avoids it really well and circles away.

Gajwer is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Lessu.
Lessu misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

so Gajwer counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Lessu is breathing heavily.
Gajwer wants to pass the guard but Lessu is keeping the position.
Gajwer passes Lessu's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Lessu wants to improve his position but Gajwer is controlling well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gajwer decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Lessu circles away from the clinch attempt.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Lessu buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Lessu tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Gajwer counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Gajwer stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Lessu shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gajwer as he jumps to the side.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Lessu shoots in and drives through. Gajwer sprawls well.

Gajwer forces Lessu back against the cage and clinches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

and Gajwer decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Lessu's guard.
Lessu knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gajwer on the ground.

Lessu has Gajwer pulled in close to control his posture.
Gajwer lands a couple of elbows.
Gajwer slips nicely into half guard.
Lessu has hold of Gajwer's hands but Gajwer slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Lessu is looking to escape.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The referee warns Lessu that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Gajwer is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Lessu can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gajwer is working for a guillotine from mount but Lessu frees his head quite easily.

Gajwer swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
