The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wake scores with a one two! Caput had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Caput throws a push kick but Wake slaps the foot to one side.
Caput will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Caput wants to clinch

and Wake counters by moving into the clinch.

Wake breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Caput tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Wake paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Caput shoots in for a double leg but Wake sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Caput wants to clinch but Wake slips to the side
and Wake counters with a left to the body.
Caput takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Caput misses with a takedown attempt - Wake sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chris Caput. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Donk. Wake catches Caput right on the button with a cross.

It looks like Chris Caput has been cut.

Wake throws a right hand that Caput ducks under and follows up with a left that Caput also avoids with ease.
Caput fails with the takedown.
Caput is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Wake shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Wake lands a two punch combo.
