The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smirnov misses with a takedown attempt - Smith sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Smith shoots in for a takedown but Smirnov shows good takedown defense.
Smith tries to score a power double leg takedown but Smirnov sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Smith somewhat.

and Smirnov decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Smith's guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Amin Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Smith is breathing heavily.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Smirnov trying to control the position from guard on top but Smith is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Smirnov won't allow Smith to get back to his feet.
Smirnov is pushing down on Smith's leg trying to pass to half guard. Smith is fighting to maintain full guard but Smirnov has managed to sneak the leg through.

Smirnov is pressing down on Smith's thigh, looking to free his foot. Smith is holding on for now.
Smith is in trouble now - Smirnov has advanced to mount!

Smirnov working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Smith is doing well to defend. Smirnov seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Smith is forced to tap and this one is over!
