Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bob Jay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tristan David (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bob Jay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tristan David!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, David Schapiro and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

David darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
David is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
David keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Jay looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Jay wants to get back to full guard.
Jay works his way to full guard. Good work.
Jay not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
David connects with a couple of short punches.
David is looking to work some ground and pound but Jay has wrist control.
David trying to control but Jay is working from the bottom.

Jay keeping moving, preventing David from controlling successfully.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Tristan David wasn't active enough on the ground.
David showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Jay.
Jay throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around David's waist but David gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jay off to one side.

David closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Jay did well to prevent David getting side control.

David looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Jay has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. David is working away from the top position though.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
David postures up in Jay's guard and throws a big left but Jay blocks it.
David wants to control from the top but Jay keeps moving.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
David is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Tristan David was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Jay swats away the attempt to clinch by David.

David scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Jay on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

David working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Jay wants to get back to full guard but David has mounted him!

David can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jay is looking to escape.

Jay bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Jay wants to control from the top but David keeps moving.
Jay is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because David is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Jay drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and David dives on top into guard.
David tries to free his leg and advance position but Jay is retaining full guard.
Jay utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
David tries to stand but Jay is controlling from the bottom.

Jay is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
David stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jay swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Jay is trying to control the position from the bottom.
David really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jay. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Jay is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
David controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
David wants to control from the top but Jay keeps moving.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Tristan David has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
David moves in looking to clinch but Jay pushes him off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


David shoots in looking for a takedown. Jay tries to sprawl out of it but David keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jay manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Jay wants to clinch up but David keeps it at a distance.
Jay throws an ugly left hook that misses

and David counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jay won't be happy with that.
David lands some shots froms side control.
Jay is trying to control David's posture but David avoids it.
Jay tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but David wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
David scores with punches from side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jay seems a little lost for a moment, as David dominates the positioning.
Tristan David has got the better of the ground game so far.
Jay manages to work his way to half guard, despite David's best efforts.

Jay is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but David pulls his head out easily.
David wants to pass to mount but Jay is defending the position.
David is thwarting Jay's attempts to control the position.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. David lands a nice short elbow.
Jay wants to control but David is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
David is trying to control the action in half guard but Jay is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Jay has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. David is working away from the top position though.

David shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than David was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

David lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Jay might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

David throws a leg kick but Jay moved away.
Jay misses with a wild combination.

David manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Jay on his heels. He'll look to pass Jay's guard now, I'm sure.

Jay is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and David defends well.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Tristan David showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

David is looking to clinch but Jay is avoiding it.

Excellent takedown into side control there by David.
You can see the frustration on Jay's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
David looks up at the clock and then as Jay takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, David smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
David content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Jay tries to buck David off but David is having none of it.

David wants to control from the top but Jay keeps moving.

David got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jay has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, David has managed to get both his arms back between Jay's legs - danger averted.

Jay has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but David can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
David slips nicely into half guard.

Jay has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for David. Oh but Jay has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! David goes limp - he's gone! Jay jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Bob Jay!
Bob Jay took his opportunity to call for a title shot in his post fight interview.
