Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marco Gomez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brutus Nash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marco Gomez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brutus Nash!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, William Peck and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomez fails with a takedown attempt.
Nice takedown defense from Nash. No joy for Gomez on that attempt.
Gomez shoots for a double leg takedown but Nash sprawls well. He's pushed Gomez's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marco Gomez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gomez avoids the body shot from Nash.
Gomez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Nash tries to avoid it but Gomez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Nash to the ground. Nash escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Gomez dives in and grabs Nash's left leg, looking for a takedown. Nash pushes down on Gomez's head and hops out.
Nash throws a lazy uppercut

and Gomez counters with a takedown into side control.
Nash is trying to control Gomez's posture but Gomez avoids it.
Nash manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Gomez taking some punishment here, with Nash in his half guard.
Nash looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Gomez with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Nash keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Gomez slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Gomez had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Nash defends it easily.
Gomez can't keep his opponent in guard - Nash advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Gomez is trying to get back to full guard.

Nash is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Let's hope that Nash has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Nash seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gomez does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nash has control of Gomez's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Gomez regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Gomez is squirming around, avoiding Nash's attempts to control the action.
A nice elbow there by Nash.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Nash cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Nash lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.


It looks like Marco Gomez has been cut.
Nash can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Gomez is looking to escape.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Gomez is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Nash lands a big shot there that rocks Gomez but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Gomez is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Nash with shots to the head and body - Gomez looks very uncomfortable down there.

Nash has isolated one of Gomez's arms. Gomez looking to fight him off but Nash twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
