PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kieth Jardine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jared Cowen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jared Cowen told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Kieth Jardine!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jared Cowen!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Gregory Folan and Ian Loll.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jardine pushes Cowen up against the cage in a clinch.
Cowen lands a left hand.
Cowen controlling the action here for a moment.
A shot in the inside from Cowen.
Jardine's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Jardine has had enough of the clinch but Cowen keeps him there for the moment.
Cowen stalling.
Jardine tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Cowen avoids it.
Cowen stops a takedown attempt from Jardine.
Cowen stalling in the clinch.
Jardine has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Cowen avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cowen lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.

It looks like Kieth Jardine has been cut.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Jardine lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Cowen backwards.
Cowen scores with a shoulder strike.
Jardine tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Cowen's elbow.
Cowen lands with a right to the head.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Jardine is trying to push Cowen away but Cowen has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
A frustrated look appears on Jardine's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Cowen is pressed up against the cage. Jardine has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Cowen down to the mat. Cowen avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kieth Jardine. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jardine shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Cowen as he jumps to the side.
Cowen lands with a thumping leg kick.
Jardine misses with a body kick.
Jardine has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Jardine there as he acknowledges the shot.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Cowen lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Cowen slaps away a takedown attempt from Jardine, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Cowen moves into range and connects with a jab.

Jardine is rocked!
Cowen is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
A good leg kick by Cowen.
Jardine gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Cowen.
Oh Jardine is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Jardine looks to score with a jab to the body but Cowen is just out of range.
Jardine seems to have got his legs back now.
Cowen throws a good cross that connects.
Nice takedown defense from Cowen. No joy for Jardine on that attempt.
Jardine is breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cowen connects with a right that clearly hurt Jardine. He's backed up against the cage with nowhere to go as Cowen proceeds to tee off with vicious combinations till Jardine collapses and taps out under the pressure!
