Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chad Mendes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul David Hewson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are William Peck, Elvis Blanc and Ian Loll.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hewson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Mendes.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Mendes is defended easily by Hewson.
Mendes looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Hewson stalks Mendes and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Mendes's face. Mendes staggers backwards, shaken.
Hewson lunges at Mendes with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Mendes's hand.
Hewson moves into range and connects with a jab.
Hewson throws out a powerful jab.
Mendes shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hewson but Hewson pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chad Mendes. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Mendes closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Mendes is chipping away with strikes.
Mendes has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mendes remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Hewson tries to escape back to his feet but Mendes has kept hold of him... Oh, now he's got Hewson's back and is looking for the choke... Is it? Is it sunk in? YES! Hewson is tapping! Mendes saw the opportunity and took it - ruthless!
