Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between David Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for David Anderson has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Anderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jay King!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Eddie Farnsworth and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Anderson.
Anderson swinging wildly here.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Anderson enables King to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Anderson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

King is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Anderson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Anderson has escaped and now he's on top!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

King working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Anderson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Anderson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

King looking for subs off his back but Anderson has passed one foot through into half guard.

Anderson is trying to control. King wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Anderson is taking a breather. King says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of David Anderson.

Anderson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but King moves away.

King tries to reverse the position but Anderson maintains control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

A close round but Jay King will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Anderson slaps away a takedown attempt from King, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Anderson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but King moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Anderson lands a head shot.

King shoots in and bounces Anderson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

King drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Anderson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now King has Anderson in his guard.

Anderson wants to pass the guard but King is keeping the position.
Anderson throws a big right hand that misses.
Anderson showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Anderson throws a big elbow that misses.
King avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Anderson trying to control but King is working from the bottom.

We're going to have a standup here because David Anderson wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Anderson has closed the distance and engaged King in a clinch.
Anderson is pressed up against the cage. King has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Anderson down to the mat. Anderson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Anderson changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
King throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Anderson's waist but Anderson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing King off to one side.
David Anderson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jay King.
