Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kevin Nelson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dan Jones!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Hugh Johnson and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nelson tries to clinch up but Jones circles away and keeps his distance.
Jones keeps the fight on the outside.
Nelson throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Jones's head.
Nelson tries to clinch but Jones moves out of range.
Nelson has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Nelson clinches up with Jones and pushes him back against the cage.
Nelson landing knees to the body.

Nelson successfully pulls guard.
Nelson is breathing heavily.
Nelson tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Jones is in close to Nelson's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Nelson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jones squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Jones wants to hold on but Nelson pushes him away.

Nelson is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Jones to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Jones shrugs it off.
Nelson looking to control but Jones is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Nelson with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Nelson avoids the attempt from Jones to control.

Nelson is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Jones has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Jones is trying desperately to improve position.

Nelson goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Jones is on top in guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Nelson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jones controls from within his opponent's guard.

Nelson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jones defends it easily.

Jones is working Nelson over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Nelson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Jones controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Nelson has his foot on Jones's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jones works his way back into a safe position though.

Nelson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jones gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Jones with a nice head shot there.
Jones controlling from the top position.
Jones preventing the sweep.
Jones pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Nelson is keeping the position for now.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jones keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Nelson's head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jones looking to sit in guard and control but Nelson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Jones is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kevin Nelson will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Jones keeps the fight on the outside.
Jones shoots in looking for a takedown. Nelson tries to sprawl out of it but Jones keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nelson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Nelson tries to clinch but Jones is having none of it.
Nelson tries to close the distance and clinch but Jones swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Jones tries to score a power double leg takedown but Nelson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jones somewhat.
Nelson is looking to clinch.

Kevin Nelson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Jones.

Nelson has managed to clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Jones is working for takedown but Nelson is calmly controlling the position for now.
Jones goes for a takedown in the clinch but Nelson prevents it.

Nelson pulls guard.

Jones is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Nelson has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Jones is looking to defend but Nelson has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Jones! Nelson pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Jones taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Kevin Nelson!
Kevin Nelson was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
