The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Illya Tyunina and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simpson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Cristofer circles away quickly and effectively.
Cristofer is looking to land body kicks.
Simpson scores with a takedown into Cristofer's guard.

Simpson is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Cristofer can't fight it off and eventually Simpson manages to take the fight to the floor. Cristofer looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Simpson cracks Cristofer with a big right hand but Cristofer just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Simpson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

BOOM! Simpson connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Billy Simpson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Cristofer is bucking up trying to escape but Simpson cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Simpson turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Simpson manages to end up in side control.
Simpson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cristofer keeps working.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Simpson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Simpson throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Cristofer tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Simpson is in Cristofer's guard.

Simpson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cristofer with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Simpson is looking to take a break and control but Cristofer is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
