Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Diego Batista (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Medrado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Batista comes to the cage accompanied by Triunfo . Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Diego Batista!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Medrado!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Thiago Cunha and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Batista tries to clinch up but Medrado circles away and keeps his distance.
Good standup being displayed there by Batista as he connects with a hook.


It looks like Jose Medrado has been cut.
Diego Batista seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Batista moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Batista tries to bum rush Medrado with a series of wild strikes but Medrado uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
A combination from Batista does no damage.

Medrado has taken the fight to the clinch.
Medrado prevents a body shot from Batista.
Medrado looking for a takedown.
Medrado's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Batista as Medrado tries to tie him up.
The referee is keeping an eye on Batista - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Batista's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Batista drives through and clinches with Medrado against the cage.
Medrado slows down the pace here.
Medrado wants a takedown but no success here.

Batista prevents the takedown attempt.
Diego Batista has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jose Medrado.
Batista prevents a takedown attempt there.
Medrado has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Batista is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Batista pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Batista closes the distance and lands a one-two.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Medrado tries to keep at a distance but Batista has taken the fight into the clinch.

Batista breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Batista misses with a few strikes there.
Batista tries to bum rush Medrado with a series of wild strikes but Medrado uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Batista throws a right and a left that Medrado avoids nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Batista connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Batista connects with a jab.


That has opened up Jose Medrado's cut even more.
Medrado takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Batista takes a swing at Medrado's ribcage but misses.
Diego Batista is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The fighters circle momentarily. Batista darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Batista tries to clinch but Medrado moves out of range.
Batista scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Batista will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Batista lands with a straight right. Medrado didn't see that one coming.
Medrado closes the distance and clinches up with Batista, looking for a takedown. Medrado pushes Batista against the cage but Batista circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Diego Batista!
A relieved looking Diego Batista thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
