Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dylan Du Preez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kaiser Vakarian! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Du Preez shoots for a takedown but Vakarian saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Du Preez drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Vakarian tries to clinch up. Du Preez slips a jab and a cross from Vakarian.
Du Preez shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Vakarian as he jumps to the side. Du Preez fails miserably with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dylan Du Preez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Vakarian blocks a head kick by Du Preez.
Du Preez shoots in looking for a takedown but Vakarian manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Du Preez's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Kaiser Vakarian seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Du Preez tries to close the distance and clinch but Vakarian swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Vakarian closes the distance and clinches. Vakarian lands a right hand. Vakarian lands on the inside with an uppercut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Vakarian lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Vakarian lands a hook that snaps the head of Du Preez backwards. A right hook to the body lands for Vakarian.
Du Preez is breathing heavily. Vakarian lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Du Preez backwards.
That's one minute gone in the round. Du Preez tries to pull guard but Vakarian forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Vakarian manages to break the clinch.
Vakarian rushes Du Preez and presses him up against the cage. Vakarian lands an uppercut. Vakarian lands with a left to the head. Vakarian's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Du Preez walks straight into a right hand from Vakarian - that's dropped him! Vakarian jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Du Preez from any more punishment! Du Preez complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Kaiser Vakarian!
